Hunting Results (or lack there of)

Well I have spent a lot of time in the woods since the last post.  Not a lot of action.  Last Saturday I was in the woods all day long.  Figured the rut was on.  I was in a prime stand located between a bedding area and food.  Got to the stand early.  Stayed in [...]

Poor Performance but Optimistic

So last weekend I think I did just about everything wrong that I could.  I had only one day to hunt and I think I must have lost my mind.

Friday night before going out the weather was crap.  Raining and windy, I listened to one of the guys in my group and decided to [...]

My First Big Buck

The following is the story of a friend of mine named Kirby.  Great guy who loves hunting camp but could take or leave the hunting part.  Those are always the guys who end up shooting the big bucks.  Anyway, here is Kirby’s story of the biggest buck he has ever shot as told in his [...]

Big Wisconsin Buck Story

Sorry it has been a while since I last posted.  We had a death in the family and then Christmas that pulled me away.  But I am back so stay tuned for more great hunting stories.

The following is the story of Mitch Lundquists hunt this year in Wisconsin.  He bagged a beauty.  Here is [...]

Long Range Shooting

Imagine that you are hunting in the hills and you see that trophy buck but he is across the valley.  You determine that it is too far a shot for you to take and all you can do is glass him and wish you had scouted the location better.  Well, if you have a marine [...]

Captian Pete Scores

One of the leaders in our camp shot his nice buck.  Pete always tells a great story of his hunts.  Here it is:

Woke up to a cold, windy morning.  The smell of the neighbors’ dairy farm in the air.  I decided to hunt in my brother’s “cry for help” stand that morning.  Many [...]

Enemy Camp Scores Another Victory

Each year we have a little contest with some buddies of ours.  We call them the “enemy camp”.  The bet each year is simple.  The biggest deer takes the prize money.  The biggest deer shot in our camp this year was mine (see my previous blog post below).  We were feeling pretty good until the [...]

Teaser Buck Comes Into View

Earlier I showed you a picture of a drop tine buck.  I was hoping to get a picture of him from a bit further away.  Here it is.  This would be a nice deer in camp.  Note the other big guy coming in on the right hand side of the picture.  This farm has been [...]

The Big Guys Are Out There

We had this guy on camera this weekend.  He spent about 30 minutes browsing in this spot.  This is the type of deer you get when you practice quality deer management.  We are guessing that he is 3 1/2 years old.

Minnesota Buck

This guy was spotted on the farm in southeast MN that our group hunts.  There are 10 of us that have spent time developing this 600+ acre tree farm into a prime hunting spot.  This would involve putting in several food plots, ponds and other land development.  We practice quality deer management on this property.  [...]
